About this guide

A guide to the sea off Diani, written with both feet on the sand

Diani Excursions is an independent editorial guide to the day trips of Kenya's south coast โ€” Wasini dhow days, Kisite snorkelling, the marine park and the road inland to Tsavo. We research, compare and explain. We are not an operator: we don't sail you out, and we never will.

What you'll find here โ€” and what you won't

What you'll find: the few Wasini, Kisite and Tsavo day trips actually worth booking from Diani Beach and Mombasa, each read the same way โ€” where the day really starts, what the price does and does not include (park fees, hotel pickup, lunch, tips), and the honest downsides in plain text. Two excursions that look identical on a booking page usually differ exactly there, in the small lines โ€” and digging those out is most of our job.

What you won't find is hype. No adjectives doing the work that facts should do, and no pretending that the sea is something a booking page can control.

Three rules before a line goes online

Rule one: every fact starts in a source file โ€” whatever we cannot trace stays off the site. Operator claims are printed as their claims, clearly labelled, never as facts of ours.

Rule two: prices in the open. The live price always sits in the booking box, straight from the platform โ€” as do ratings and review counts, which we never copy into our own text.

Rule three: the downsides in print. Tides move departures, the captain can cancel, park fees are often extra, and no dolphin has ever signed a contract to show up. A page that hides any of this does not get published.

The sentence we refuse to write

"You will see dolphins." Nobody can write that honestly. Marine wildlife sightings, sea conditions and the exact snorkelling spot are decided by the day โ€” tides, weather, the captain โ€” and we would rather you board the dhow knowing that than find it out offshore.

How we earn, said out loud

Every booking box on this site is an affiliate widget of the platform it links to, GetYourGuide. Book through it and the platform pays us a commission out of its own cut; what you pay is identical either way. No sponsored rankings, no operator paying to look better.

One guide in a family, one method behind them all

This site belongs to the small family of independent travel guides built by Vincenzo Modica and his family of guides โ€” each site devoted to a single place or experience, and each built the same way: facts checked against sources, prices stated openly, disadvantages in writing, affiliate earnings declared. Check our method โ€” it is visible on every page, and it is the only promise we make.
